The new Square Collection on display at Palazzo Farnese for Design@Farnese

Starting on Wednesday 8th of June and ending on September 20, the Square Collection by Frag – designed by Christophe Pillet and presented during the last Salone del Mobile – has been displayed at the Design@Farnese exhibition in the great galleries of Palazzo Farnese in Rome.
This is a magnificent symbol of the Renaissance period and a masterpiece in the original architecture of the XVI century.

The initiative, established by the French embassy, displayed for a three-month period, the creations of an elite group of French designers produced in both France and Italy. An aesthetic and industrial discipline that has become a universal canon regarding all sectors, design is thus invited to compare itself with an exceptional historical setting under eight meter high vaults.

Frag is among the companies involved in the exhibit, appearing side by side with great names of production excellence such as Hermès, Christofle and small independent companies, all united due to their attention, passion for design and for their unique know-how which is able to give shape to ideas and projects.

Square Collection, a project by Christophe Pillet has developed into a family of rigorous product lines composed of a chair, chaise-longue, stool and two pairs of small tables. The concept of the chairs is that of a cube covered in hide or leather, carved out and made with a comfortable interior through the use of two leather cushions, one employed for the seat and another for its back.
The slightly curved shape of the armrests gives an enveloping feeling while at the same time maintaining its refined and clean contours as a chair, chaise longue and stool. Four thin metal legs act as supports and distinctive elements, lengthening and providing lightness to these minimalistic objects, which allow as sole elegant detail its small metal feet.
The collection concludes with a pair of coffee tables and one of side tables: the former rectangular and spacious, the latter square and streamlined, both inspired by the stylistic elements of the Square Collection and completed by a sophisticated surface in a grey slate finish. This unique paint finish enables us to obtain tangible surfaces with a natural effect on a surface with unexpected lightness and reduced thickness.
